About Esk Mapping & GIS

Esk Mapping & GIS was established to service the spatial needs of the agriculture, resources and utilities industries as well as the various levels of government. Founded by Tim Bates and Steve Giudici, who have over 25 years of GIS and spatial data management experience, we aim to service specific client needs in GIS analysis projects, GIS support services, and assessments and management planning for vegetation, property and natural resources.

Tim Bates - Principal Consultant

Tim Bates has a background in Agricultural Science and GIS. Tim's recent position was GIS Manager of FEA Group, where he managed a GIS Team which implemented an industry-leading spatial information system, utilising New Zealand based product Geomaster. Tim also facilitated the development of highly customised operational and strategic GIS systems using the ESRI suite of products.

Tim is highly proficient in project management, GIS data capture, analysis and reporting.

Steve Giudici - Principal Consultant

Steve Giudici has a background in Surveying and GIS. Steve has over 15 years in GIS data capture, maintenance and development, as well as project management. Steve has been an independent consultant since 2008 and his projects have included customisation of ArcGIS using C# in the .NET environment, data analysis, editing and management.

Steve has extensive experience with the ESRI suite of products, Trimble mobile equipment, and software development.

Jeremy Wilson - Principal Consultant

Jeremy Wilson has a background in Forest Science and GIS. Jeremy’s roles over the last 15 years have chiefly involved development and maintenance of GIS, including GUI development using various ESRI and .NET environments, capture and analysis of forest resource information, including use and development of mobile GIS data capture tools, forest growth and harvest simulation, forest acquisition and divestment, and project management.

Jeremy specialises in application development, and also brings many years of forest inventory experience to the Esk Mapping & GIS team.

Mark McGovern - GIS Analyst

Mark McGovern comes from an engineering background, and has also completed a bachelor of Spatial Science Technology (GIS). Mark's expertise lies in thorough data management, mapping and GPS data capture. Mark's recent role was as GIS Coordinator, administering natural resource data, reporting based on extensive data analysis, and map preparation to support executive and operational activities.

Mark is highly skilled in data management using the ESRI suite of products, as well as various specialised database management systems.

Phil Bessell - GIS Analyst

Phil Bessell brings extensive experience in the GIS data management, analysis, and data editing areas. Phil is also our GPS specialist, keeping abreast of the latest technology and developing efficient mobile mapping solutions. With over 10 years experience in the natural resources industry, Phil has both the technical GIS skills, as well as competency in integrating and synchronising field data capture with a company’s GIS.
